2022 Trahere Pinot Noir
2022 Trahere Pinot Noir
The 2022 Trahere Pinot Noir is the first wine crafted solely from our high-density Spedding Vineyard, a blend of three exceptional clones—Abel, Pommard, and Calera—grown across the 1.48 ha site. These clones thrived under the ideal 2022 harvest conditions, resulting in a wine of remarkable complexity and sophistication. Layers of vibrant red cherry, bramble spice, and blackberry surround silky tannins, driving a fruit intensity and structure that lingers beautifully on the palate.

Other Notes
The 2022 season began with a wet and variable spring, especially around flowering, leading to smaller bunches and reduced yields across many sites. However, the exceptional summer and autumn that followed provided ideal ripening conditions, resulting in concentrated, vibrant flavours across all varieties.

Winemaker Notes
The fruit was handpicked, chilled, and meticulously sorted on our sorting table before fermenting with indigenous yeasts in small stainless steel cubes for 17-19 days on skins. After pressing, the wine was transferred to barrel, where it aged for 10 months in 10% new French Tronçais oak and underwent natural malolactic fermentation. The wine was then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
